Hi, I'm Dawson! I am an incoming PhD student in Computational Mathematics, Science, and Engineering at Michigan State University under Dr. Danny Caballero and Dr. Mengsen Zhang. I will be partially supported by the College of Engineering Fellowship and the AI and Data enabled predictive Multiscale Modeling across STEM NSF Research Traineeship (AIDMM-NRT). Broadly speaking, I am interested in applied mathematics and statistics, particularly machine learning applications to social sciences.
I obtained my undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan-Dearborn in Mathematics and Applied Statistics in 2023, and later in 2023, I obtained my master's degree in Applied and Computational Mathematics from the University of Michigan-Dearborn under the advisement of Dr. Thomas Fiore. During my undergraduate and master's studies I was a member of the Blue Data Lab led by Dr. Tian An Wong, where I contributed to analysis of police violence and surveillance, with an emphasis on the local impact of said results. I am also an active member of the Computational Epidemiology Dispersed Volunteer Research Network (CompEpi DVRN) to collaborate with researchers from other institutions on applications of statistics and machine learning to social justice issues.
I am always looking to chat or collaborate on new projects, so please feel free to reach out!
